Strategy Steps was founded by Louise Biti and Assyat David to support the financial planning industry with practical and client focussed financial planning strategies.

Louise Biti CFP®, MTax, BEc, BA(AS), Dip FP

Louise has over 18 years experience in financial services and is well respected across the industry. Prior to starting Strategy Steps she was Executive Manager – Adviser Solutions for Suncorp Wealth Management (previously Asteron) where Louise was responsible for:

  • Technical services support
  • Research support
  • Paraplanning services
  • Education strategy and a registered training organisation
  • Adviser marketing support.

Louise also spent several years as the Head of Research and Technical with ING's aligned dealer groups (RetireInvest, Tandem and Millennium3). Her career started at a Canberra-based community organisation providing information and education about investments to people applying for government income support. 

Louise has always been actively involved in the industry and her achievements include:

  • Director on the Financial Planning Association (FPA) Board
  • Contributor to CCH publications such as Master Financial Planning Guide and Small Business Tax Concessions Guide as well as co-author of the Practical Guide to SMSFs
  • Regular contributor to LexisNexis Retirement and Estate Planning Bulletin
  • Regular contributor of articles for Your Life Choices (a consumer finance magazine)
  • Developed Aged Care workshops and previous involvement with Finsia education
  • Speaker at industry conferences
  • Regularly quoted in both consumer and trade media.

In 2005 Louise was awarded the FPA's Distinguished Service Award. She has a Masters of Taxation, a Bachelor of Economics, a Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) and a Diploma of Financial Services and has achieved Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP) status. 

Assyat David M App. Fin, B Comm, Dip FP, GDip App.Fin

Assyat has 18 years experience in the financial services industry in a range of roles. In her most recent role as Executive General Manager, Financial Services at Trust Company (a listed trustee company) she was responsible for the businesses servicing retail and intermediary clients. The divisions included in these businesses are: 

  • Financial planning – responsible for the dealer group and advice license
  • Estates and trusts
  • Estate planning (wealth transfer planning)
  • Philanthropy
  • Personal injury
  • Trust lifestyle care (TLC) – a power of attorney service
  • Funds management – around $1 billion funds under management covering Australian equities, fixed interest, property, infrastructure, mortgage and cash portfolios.

Before joining Trust, Assyat was a consultant at Challenger/CPH and was also on the Board of a number of Challenger's distribution businesses. At ING she looked after the shared services for the ING distribution businesses, and prior to taking on that role was Head of Research and Technical at RetireInvest and a portfolio manager for the multi-manager and multi asset class portfolios at Optimix. 

Assyat has been a Chair of a Masters subject and a lecturer at Finsia. 

Assyat's academic qualifications include Master of Applied Finance (Macquarie University), Bachelor of Commerce (University of New South Wales), Diploma of Financial Planning and Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from Finsia (Financial Services Institute of Australasia).
